2001: A Space Oddity

When I was playing with the website, I decided to have it make a photo of my favorite breed of dogs running around flowers. More specifically, a westie puppy running around a field of sunflowers. The photo appeared and to be honest, it kind of freaked me out how quickly it take whatever I wrote and make it a photo.  While I was using the website, it kept bringing me back to watching the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey . Even though it was not my first time watching the movie, I saw more things in the film than ever before.  Like I said before, this was not my first viewing experience watching the movie. A few years ago, I watched a movie with my dad. I mentioned it to him and he said it was one of his favorite movies. So, one night we sat down and watched it. However, I fell asleep after the apes discovered the monolith and Haywood is flying to the moon. I am still confused about how none of the loud noises and music didn't woke me up.      My favorite short that we watched was the episode Pop Squad. Even though it was really sad, it was unique from the others because of its themes. The majority of the episodes all dealt with technology, but Pop Squad dealt with something deeper: death. The episode has many elements in it that resembled the movie, Metropolis. This includes the division of class, where the people who are wealthy live at the top and the poor reside below. This episode is about immortality and the price of living forever. However, when the police officer kills the children initially, he becomes haunted by the task he just did.  Along the way, he meets a woman who has a child. She tells the police officer that she has been alive for over 200 years and she wants her child to have experiences. She also said she sees things through her eyes and ho

Metropolis Review

Even though I stated all of my hobbies and interests, one of my favorite things to do is to write movie reviews. No matter how amazing or terrible the movie is, I love giving my opinion on films. I also love reading them because I enjoy seeing how other people interpret the movies. Anyways, here is my review of the 1927 classic film, Metropolis: Even if you never watch the movie in its entirety, you probably have seen clips or photos of Metropolis. Despite this movie coming out almost 100 years ago, it is considered one of the most influential films to ever come out.  One thing that instantly popped out to me was some of the shots that looked like they could have been done today. The way they did the transformation of Maria into a robot is extremely impressive.  Besides all of the impressive editing and directing, the movie appeared to be filled with symbolism. This is done by combining religious references and technology. This is emphasized by having the Tower of Babel as the vocal po
