The Matrix


When the debate started, I didn't really have a stance on the topic. I was having a hard time choosing between the red or blue pill. I decided on whether to know the truth no matter how bad, or ignore it and live in the simulation. In the end, I found myself still stuck on the decision.

I remember stating that it would be hard for me to trust someone the moment I met them. So, I said I would choose the blue pill because I don't think I could handle the truth and would probably regret it. Also, I am not like Neo who is recruited by Morpheus and the gang. I would not be able to handle a situation like Neo. 

I remember in the debate, someone said something that stuck with me:

Both places are not perfect, but what brings us closer to happiness?

In the end, the whole debate about the red or blue pill is about which decision would make us happier. That was the thing that people always brought up when discussing their decision. Everyone always wants to be happy in the future. So, that was the mindset of most of the people during the debate. 


Red

- you know the truth about everything 

Blue

- you don't know the truth

- you live your life in ignorance of the truth

     My favorite short that we watched was the episode Pop Squad. Even though it was really sad, it was unique from the others because of its themes. The majority of the episodes all dealt with technology, but Pop Squad dealt with something deeper: death. The episode has many elements in it that resembled the movie, Metropolis. This includes the division of class, where the people who are wealthy live at the top and the poor reside below. This episode is about immortality and the price of living forever. We meet a police officer who is tasked with killing children. We soon find out that kids are being killed in order for the rich and wealthy above to live forever. However, when the police officer kills the children initially, he becomes haunted by the task he just did.  Along the way, he meets a woman who has a child. Two of my dogs: Finley on the ground and Gus up clos e Hi! My name is Kate and I am a Communications, Media, and Culture Major at the University of Tampa. I am currently a sophomore. I also have a minor in English. Metropolis Review

Even though I stated all of my hobbies and interests, one of my favorite things to do is to write movie reviews. No matter how amazing or terrible the movie is, I love giving my opinion on films. I also love reading them because I enjoy seeing how other people interpret the movies. Anyways, here is my review of the 1927 classic film, Metropolis: Even if you never watch the movie in its entirety, you probably have seen clips or photos of Metropolis. Despite this movie coming out almost 100 years ago, it is considered one of the most influential films to ever come out.  One thing that instantly popped out to me was some of the shots that looked like they could have been done today. The way they did the transformation of Maria into a robot is extremely impressive.  Besides all of the impressive editing and directing, the movie appeared to be filled with symbolism.
