Final

Movie and Process:

For the final, my group and I chose the movie Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension. At first, we were struggling with finding a movie to do, but we somehow landed on this when thinking about movies from our childhood. 

The movie is based on a show about two brothers who try to make their summer last and have fun before going to school. In the movie, the brothers help out the villain of the show/movie by making a machine that transports them to another dimension. 

Even though the movie is fun and family-friendly, there is still a deep meaning behind it. It talks about growing up, youth, and what makes a person evil. There are parts of the movie where the characters talk about growing up in the dimension and being and acting like a kid.

The movie also displays science fiction features and things we talked about in class. This includes the three robotic laws and cyborgs. 

Conclusion and Thoughts: 

Overall, the movie displays many things that relate to the class. However, the movie also touches on humans and is a kind of philosophy. 

Even though the movie touches on technology and sci-fi elements, it talks about what it means to be a kid. It also talks about growing up and getting rid of that part of your life. Phineas-2 and Ferb-2 show life without that aspect of growing up, without fun and childlike behavior. It also talks about what makes a person evil. This is embodied in the character of Dr. Doof and his evil doppelganger in the other dimension. 

The movie combines science fiction with a reflection of humans. The movie is for kids and families, but it is a movie that can still be watched by everyone. People can relate to it and the message about childhood and personality.

     My favorite short that we watched was the episode Pop Squad. Even though it was really sad, it was unique from the others because of its themes. The majority of the episodes all dealt with technology, but Pop Squad dealt with something deeper: death. The episode has many elements in it that resembled the movie, Metropolis. This includes the division of class, where the people who are wealthy live at the top and the poor reside below. This episode is about immortality and the price of living forever. We meet a police officer who is tasked with killing children. We soon find out that kids are being killed in order for the rich and wealthy above to live forever. However, when the police officer kills the children initially, he becomes haunted by the task he just did.  Along the way, he meets a woman who has a child. Metropolis Review

Even though I stated all of my hobbies and interests, one of my favorite things to do is to write movie reviews. No matter how amazing or terrible the movie is, I love giving my opinion on films. I also love reading them because I enjoy seeing how other people interpret the movies. Anyways, here is my review of the 1927 classic film, Metropolis: Even if you never watch the movie in its entirety, you probably have seen clips or photos of Metropolis. Despite this movie coming out almost 100 years ago, it is considered one of the most influential films to ever come out.  One thing that instantly popped out to me was some of the shots that looked like they could have been done today.
