The movie is about an AI that gets sent to a family who is dealing with a tragedy. Their only son was put in a coma of some sorts because of an illness. The family become used to the AI, named David, and was
about to officially become a part of their family. However, their son wakes up and tries to get David out of the picture. When David escapes being destroyed, the movie is about a journey of finding the fairy to turn him into a really boy. The movie shows David on an adventure with Teddy the robotic teddy bear and a robotic gigolo named Joe.
The movie has many things that reflects the story of Pinocchio and even references it during the movie. The use of this famous story shows that "nothing new under the sun". Not just that, but it was also based off of a short story called “Supertoys Last All Summer” by Brian Aldiss.
In the ending of the movie takes a heartfelt move. After David finds out that there are more of him and begins to think that he is not unique and one-of-the-kind. When he finds the "fairy", he slowly asks her to become and real boy and powers off. He is frozen in ice in Manhattan. After years past, David is found and is put back together again. The advanced robots decide to make a robot version of the mother in order to make him feel better. In the end, he doesn't become a real boy physically, but he becomes one internally. The love he had for the mother made him like a reallyboy because he was able to have these emotions. Before robots become advanced in the movie, they never really had the emotions. The love both David and the Mother had for each other makes them feel
human.

Pinocchio notes
Gepetto is lonely and wants to create a puppet
He is given a magic woof and begins to crave a puppet
He creates Pinocchio
Pinocchio begins being mean to Gepetto and begins abusing him
Once he is given feet, he runs away
When he returns home, the talking cricket tries to talk to him, but Pinocchio kills him
After that, he runs away again, and begins to join a group of bad characters including Fox and Cat
Fox and Cat who are thieves who try to get gold
Even though he befriends the villains, Fox and Cat’s greed overtakes them and goes against Pinocchio
They hang Pinocchio in order to get gold
The fairy saves Pinocchio in the moment
When asked about the gold, Pinocchio lies to the fairy about it
He noses grows long whenever he lies
After this, he reconnects with Fox and Cat
They trick him out of gold pieces
Pinocchio confines to the Fairy and begins to live with her and her son
He begins to go to school (twice)
He is bad (twice)
He is turned into a donkey after the second time he is bad
After some time, he is swallowed by a shark
Geppetto is living in the belly of the shark
Pinocchio gets him out of the shark and takes care of him
Because of this action, the fairy turns him into a real boy
AI Notes
Takes place in new jersey
David is a robot who is capable of love
He is given to this family whose son becomes sick
The mom feels uncomfortable at first, but decides to activate the emotion, childlike love from David
David becomes besties with the son’s teddy bear, named Teddy
The son becomes cured from his illness and comes back home
The son becomes jealous of David and makes him do acts that worries the mom and dad
Martin’s friend messes with David and causes him to get Martin and jump into the pool
David is accused of purposely putting Martin in danger and the parents are convinced to bring David back to the creators to be destroyed
Monica spares his life and drops him off in the woods
David and Teddy are by themselves
David reflects on the story of pinocchio and relates to it
He decides to find the Blue Fairy to turn him into a real boy and maybe get the mom’s love
David and teddy are captured by people who despised his brand of AI and are threatened to be destroyed in front of a huge crowd
David is about to be destroyed alongside Joe, a gigolo robot
David, Teddy, and Joe escape from destruction and escape
They find a machine that directs them to Rockerfeller Center
He also mentions the story of pinocchio and suggests that the Blue Fairy will help him with his wish
Manhattan is flooded
David meets his creator
David sees copies of himself and female versions and they are ready to shipped out in the world
After seeing his is not alone and sees copies of himself, he tries to kill himself
After falling into the ocean, david sees a figure that looks like the Blue Fairy
Joe saves him
Joe is captured by authorities for a previous crime
David and Teddy go to see the Blue Fairy, who is an attraction at Coney Island
They become trapped by the attraction
He thinks the fairy is real and asks to be turned into a real boy
He repeats this until he slowly unpowers.
Many years past and humans are extinct
Manhattan us bow under ice
Robots have become more advanced ad become interested in humanity
They find David and Teddy and revive them
The advanced robots look into David’s memories
They explain to him that it is impossible to make him a real boy
With genetic material, they were able to create Monica (the mom)
However, she can only work for a day and David spends the day with her
When she falls asleep, she tells David that she always loved him
“The everlasting moment he had been waiting for. David falls asleep as well and goes to that place where dreams are born”
He joins Monica as he completes his journey, to be loved and feels like a real boy
