Ready Player One 

I've seen this movie many times before watching in class. My dad brought me to see it with him and I remember enjoying it a lot. One of the main reasons I really enjoyed it was all of the pop culture reference. My parents made me watch and listen to stuff they grew up with. So, the songs and pop culture references were not only loved by my dad, but also by me. 

A thing I forgot about the movie was the reference and reflection of Parzival. Parzival was an Autherian hero who went on another quest for the Holy grail after failing to get it for the first time.

Obviously, the movie and Wade reflect the story of Parzival. Wade has been trying to win the prized Egg. He kept trying to achieve the games in order to get closer to the Egg, but he kept failing. 

Just like his literature counterpart, Wade eventually achieves the his holy grail, or the "egg". 

This element adds on to the many references in the movie and book. 

The book was written by Ernest Cline and was released in 2011. Cline then released a follow up novel called Ready Player Two. His plans to create the sequel was accounted in 2015, but did not begin to write in 2017. 

To add on to the pop culture reference, the audio for both books are read by Wil Wheaton, who starred in many famous 80s movies and shows, most notably Stand By Me and Star Trek: The Next Generation

Overall, I enjoyed the movie during my 100th time watching the movie
(that was a joke).

     My favorite short that we watched was the episode Pop Squad. Even though it was really sad, it was unique from the others because of its themes. The majority of the episodes all dealt with technology, but Pop Squad dealt with something deeper: death. The episode has many elements in it that resembled the movie, Metropolis. This includes the division of class, where the people who are wealthy live at the top and the poor reside below. This episode is about immortality and the price of living forever. We meet a police officer who is tasked with killing children. We soon find out that kids are being killed in order for the rich and wealthy above to live forever. Metropolis Review

Even though I stated all of my hobbies and interests, one of my favorite things to do is to write movie reviews. No matter how amazing or terrible the movie is, I love giving my opinion on films. I also love reading them because I enjoy seeing how other people interpret the movies. Anyways, here is my review of the 1927 classic film, Metropolis: Even if you never watch the movie in its entirety, you probably have seen clips or photos of Metropolis. Despite this movie coming out almost 100 years ago, it is considered one of the most influential films to ever come out.  One thing that instantly popped out to me was some of the shots that looked like they could have been done today. The way they did the transformation of Maria into a robot is extremely impressive.  Besides all of the impressive editing and directing, the movie appeared to be filled with symbolism.
